CRICKET'S MOST DISGRACEFUL ACT BY CHAPPELL UNDERARM INCIDENT

In the February 1981 underarm delivery incident New Zealand needed six runs to tie the match from the final ball, with eight wickets down. The Australian captain (Greg Chappell) ordered the bowler (his brother, Trevor Chappell) to bowl underarm: rolling the ball along the ground to avoid the possibility that the No. 10 New Zealand batsman (Brian McKechnie) would score a six from the last ball to tie the match.

FAMOUS QUOTES

It was described as "the most disgusting incident I can recall in the history of cricket" by the then Prime Minister of New Zealand, Rob Muldoon, who also said that "It was an act of cowardice and I consider it appropriate that the Australian team were wearing yellow".

Even the Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Fraser, called the act "contrary to the traditions of the game". Commentating for Channel 9 at the time, Richie Benaud described the act as "disgraceful" and called it "one of the worst things I have ever seen done on a cricket field".

mr Greg Chappell considered to be one of the greats of the game was the captain of the australian side that time.Greg Chappell was the one who called up his brother Trevor Chappell and asked him to bowl underarm. The Actual reason he did so was that few matches before last ball six has won newzealand a match because of that Greg got too cautious not to lose a game in such a fashion. Greg, former Indian coach, came with a cowardice act of bowling a underarm. But Chappell citied reason that were very irrelevant to context such as the weather was scorching hot at that moment players were exhausted so I wanted things to end soon.He was able to stay in the field for 49.5 overs but when the last ball was about to be bowled he got exhausted and asked his brother to bowl underarm.Sir Chappell people wont remember you for your batting ,captaincy etc but only for one disgraceful moment that is underarm incidence.
