My favourite is "Students of Northport High School" This is what happened After two teachers in the same school district were diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2004, the students at Northport High School knew they had to do something. So they organized an amazing fundraiser. The first event they held was called Hoops for ALS, a charity basketball tournament at a local elementary school, which raised $25,000 and drew over 500 people.Then even bigger and created the concept of A Midwinter Night's Dream.Since then, a dedicated group of students have raised a total of $722,000 for the disease through this benefit. They are responsible for the entire planning of the 500-person event, from writing press releases, to soliciting businesses for sponsorships, to serving the food.The students live by the motto "Be the change you wish to see in the world." . SO innovative right?
